I loved Machu Picchu, I did the 2 day hike, but was exhausted when I go to the top.

Very unique shot! My friend is planning a trip to Machu Picchu in Sept. Unfortunately, I can’t join her.. Guess I just have to look at your lovely picture in the mean time. 🙂

I love those little peeks through nooks and crannies. Had fun with a similiar shot at Buchart Gardens in British Columbia. Thanks for sharing and stoking my South American Travel dreams.

Great shot. So is that Machu Picchu just there beyond the window?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!
@Andy Hayes: the view is from the Machu Picchu citadel toward the mountains that surround it and the Urubambu River valley below. The terraced gardens on the mountainsides were probably part of the larger Machu Picchu complex.
This window is in the wall of one of the larger chambers. I can’t remember exactly which one, but I believe it’s part of the emperor’s living quarters.

I always love using a “natural” frame when taking photos…looking for a window, framing tree branches, cliffs, whatever to frame my subject.
Your photo turned out especially nicely using this technique.
